A tug is a braided leather 'handle' that hangs from the dog's collar to offer a quick and easy handhold. A grab at a tug gives a more certain grip than trying to slip fingers under a collar. It makes catching exuberant animals much easier.
Tugs are braided of the same high-quality leathers as are the leashes and collars. The spring-loaded latches are solid brass as are those of the braided leashes. Tugs are finished with a small turk's-head knot to improve the grip.
There is a tendency for dogs to chew on tugs, so they must be taught not to do that and they are not left in place when the dog is unattended.
* * * Tandem couplers are braided leather, split leads, designed to use a single leash to handle two dogs at the same time. They are great for evening strolls and other occasions when you might have two well-mannered dogs out at the same time. They are handy for trips.
Tandem couplers are made of the finest leathers with brass fittings.
